ROSE TATTOO Frontman Urges Men To Have Prostate Checks

Australia's Herald Sun reports that ROSE TATTOO frontman Angry Anderson is urging men to have prostate checks.

The legendary rocker, who appears in a series of television ads to promote prostate cancer awareness, said men's health was no longer an unspoken topic.

"This is about men's bits and we're not worried about talking about men's bits anymore," Anderson said.

"It's the age of enlightenment. I really don't feel there's a lot of males that don't respond to going to seek treatment because it's unmanly.

"There's nothing unmanly asking for help."

Anderson, 59, was personally touched by prostate cancer with the death of his bandmate and longtime friend Pete Wells.

Wells, 58, was the guitarist and founder of ROSE TATTOO.

More than 12,000 Australian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, killing 2700.

The ads featuring Anderson, who is also the face of Blundstone, are backed by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and the Australian Divisions of General Practice.
